For too long, the United States has avoided doing anything meaningful to address infrastructure needs, which have long been ignored and / or overlooked. If excuses, promises and empty rhetoric were achieved, it would no longer be necessary to address these needs. We have witnessed, too, the deterioration of our bridges, roads, and public transportation, etc., because, unlike many other nations, we have refused to invest, regularly, in this, consistently! With that in mind, this article will briefly attempt to consider, examine, review, and discuss 5 key considerations and areas to pay attention to, sooner rather than later.
1. Power Grid update: How often have we seen evidence that our Power Grid in general needs to be updated and improved on a regular and constant basis? After every storm, we see major breakdowns, in terms of prolonged loss of power, heat, and essential utility needs. We need, demand, our elected public officials and others, to make this a top priority, before we experience a major crisis and unnecessary loss of life.
two. Roads, bridges, tunnels: Have you noticed the number of potholes in our roads and the apparent attempt to simply put a little band-aid on a bleed? Constant, filling and filling, paving and resurfacing and doing the same, the same, the same, the same. It seems that many of our bridges and tunnels are, at best, at risk and, at worst, a catastrophe waiting to happen! Given that the number, size, and speed of cars have changed so drastically, wouldn’t it make sense that we need to adapt our roads to handle this? When we visit other nations, we realize and observe that our nation ranks far behind many others in this key area.
3. Mass transportation, high-speed trains: While most major cities should encourage mass transit, for transport and environmental reasons / reasons, we see very little focus on constantly improving them. Why are we so far behind, others, when it comes to promoting and having high-speed trains, etc.?
Four. Best airplanes and airports: While there have been some recent improvements, at some airports, most agree, the level and quality of our airports is much lower than others around the world!
